ZZ

One of the easiest beginner plants but with plenty of character, ZZ plants are native to Eastern and Southern Africa. The leaves are beautifully glossy and stems are succulent so these plants can withstand neglect more than most plants. As with all the succulents, these are drought tolerant and can thrive in various light conditions except prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Regular pruning could sometimes be necessary as these plants don’t grow in neat upright habit but that is part of their charm.

Even though these plants are toxic to animals, they have been used in their native places as medicinal for ailments ranging from ulcers to earache.
